2006, Russian River Valley $24.99
2008 SONOMA COUNTY HARVEST FAIR GOLD MEDAL AWARD WINNER. A fine example of why the Russian River area of California, and Pellegrini Estates in particular, has emerged as a prime site for California Pinot Noir. From the renowned Pellegrini Family Vineyards. We had the opportunity this summer to visit Bob Pellegrini at Olivet Lane Estate and taste his entire flight of carefully made wines. They’ve been ordered and shipped and waiting in our stores for you to try. Left, top to bottom, that’s Olivet Lane entrance, Tim and Bob center, and the Pinot Noir vineyard (just before harvest) which sits just opposite the lane. Olivet Lane Pinot Noir is a brilliant ruby color, with cherry-berry-rich aromas suggesting exotic scents of black tea and spice, lush and layered with fruit. Buttery, supple, delicate and lovely. Balanced with firm tannins and silken texture through the smooth finish.

What more could you ask for to accompany your favorite roast bird or beast...be it capon, turkey, duck, goose or filet of beef? Bob himself paired it with roast chicken for us at his Olivet Lane home – a dinner of simple and pure perfection. Suggestive of a fine Burgundy, yet born and bred 100% American wine. This Pinot Noir is an astute character, indeed, and seriously delicious. Especially when matched with honest-to-goodness fare at your table.
