Marquis Philips began as a project to make wine with the simple goal to control the entire process, soup to nuts, from concept to vineyard, to market, to wine style, to price. The winemakers aim to create wines that are pleasure giving, dark, ripe, sweet, gulp-able, and loud, yet subtle. The grapes are harvested at the peak physiological ripeness and are bursting with flavor. Robert Parker says it best, ”Perhaps another way to think of these wines is that they are XXX-rated stuff.
